{"id":109,"date":"2021-05-19T12:57:33","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T12:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eximasesores.com\/?p=1045"},"modified":"2023-11-28T15:48:11","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T15:48:11","slug":"2020-tax-return-keys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eximasesores.com\/en\/declaracion-de-la-renta-2020-claves\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything you need to know about the 2020 Income Tax Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are in the middle of the 2020 Income Tax Return campaign and this year a series of questions have arisen that until now were not so often taken into account. Due to the situation we have been going through over the last few months, many people have doubts about certain points of this year's Income Tax Return, doubts that we are going to resolve today and which we will explain in detail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When is it compulsory to file the 2020 Income Tax Return?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When deciding whether or not to file your income tax return this year, you must take into account the amount and source of the income you received in 2020. A person is obliged to file a tax return if they are a worker who received more than \u20ac22,000 in 2020 from a single payer. In the case of multiple payers, you do not have to file when the sum of the second and subsequent payers together does not exceed \u20ac1,500 and when there is a minimum of \u20ac14,000 in total annual income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the particularities that are raising the most doubts this year are the ERTES, which we explain below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What happens with ERTES in the 2020 Income Tax Return?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year there is a particularity that is the ERTES, many workers have been affected by this situation and part of their salary comes from the ERTES. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepe.es\/HomeSepe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">State Public Employment Service (SEPE)<\/a>. In this case, the factor that there are two payers comes into play, so the \u20ac14,000 threshold rule applies, unless the payment of all payers from the second payer onwards is less than \u20ac1,500 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even so, you do not have to pay more if you have two payers, as the calculation is based on your income and not on the number of payers you have. For ERTES, the result will depend on the withholding tax you have been charged. If the benefits received from the SEPE are small, the withholding will not be high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also cases in which there have been many errors in the payments made by the SEPE, which has caused some uncertainty among the affected population. According to the Treasury technicians, if the SEPE has demanded a refund and the refund has been made in 2021, it may be that the draft does not acquire that adjustment. If this is the situation, the taxpayer will have to modify the draft by sending the actual amounts collected once the refund is deducted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same applies if the SEPE has not yet claimed the refund at the time of filing the tax return. Here, the total income received must be declared and when the refund is claimed, a request for rectification must be made to correct the declaration. Therefore, we see that you have to be especially careful in these situations and look quite closely to ensure that all the information is correct. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What about this year's subsidies for the self-employed?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of self-employed workers, it will be necessary to include in the tax return the benefit for termination of activity that has been received as an additional income for the quarter. It is not considered as income from economic activity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Self-employed persons who are taxed under the module system should note that they are entitled to an extraordinary reduction of 35 % or 20 % of their net income, depending on their activity. In addition, the days of a state of alarm are not counted in the filing of the tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where can I request a draft tax return?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The draft tax return can be requested online via the website or the Tax Agency's application. You will need your electronic ID card, Cl@ve PIN, reference number or electronic certificate to request it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the deadline for submission?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last day to file the 2020 Income Tax Return is Wednesday 30 June 2021, as established by the Tax Agency. This is independent of the filing method used, whether online, in person or by telephone appointment. However, if it is payable and paid by direct debit, this date is brought forward to 25 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where can I file my Income Tax Return?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are several ways to file your tax return. On the one hand, you can do it by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciatributaria.es\/AEAT.internet\/Inicio\/La_Agencia_Tributaria\/Campanas\/_Campanas_\/_comp_Renta\/_columnas__contenedor_Columnas_\/_col_columna1\/_AYUDA\/_Servicios_de_ayuda_para_confeccionar_y_presentar_su_Renta_\/Cita_previa\/Cita_previa.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Internet<\/a>, You can also use the Tax Agency's mobile app or make an appointment by telephone or in person. If you want to go in person, you must make an appointment through digital channels or by telephone. The deadline for requesting this appointment is from 27 May to 29 June. If you want to make a telephone appointment, you must request it via the website, the app or by telephone, in which case you have until 29 June to do so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When do I get the money if I have to pay it back? How long do I have to pay it back if I have to pay it back?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your tax return is a refund, the amount will be paid 48 hours after filing the tax return and the Tax Agency has a period of 6 months to settle this payment. If you have to pay, you can pay in instalments, paying a 60% when you file your tax return and the 40% before November. You can make the transaction by direct debit, card, cash or other forms of payment.
